Girls Soccer: Briber's 2 Goals Spark Union Catholic' Victory in County Tournament

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic girls soccer team picked the perfect time to have its biggest offensive outburst of the season when the Vikings registered a 4-0 victory over Dayton in the opening round of the Union County Tournament on Thursday in Scotch Plains.

Coral Briber got the Vikings jump started when she scored two first half goals, and Hope Wegryn and Sofia Alves scored in the second half when UC (now 2-6 on the season) put the game away.

Izzy DiDario, who has played fantastic in goal all season, made three saves to earn the shutout. Alves, Olivia Yarem and Jamie Bonaccorso all had assists for UC.

With the victory, Union Catholic, the No. 11 seed, advanced to meet No. 6 seed Summit in the second round on Saturday, October, 7 at Summit.
