SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ --  Christina Layden and Kaleigh Gunsiorowski each scored and Nadine Rouba played another strong game in goal when the Union Catholic girls soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 2-1 victory on over previously undefeated Kent Place on Monday.

Layden, a senior, continued her torrid season when she scored her eighth goal of the season in the second half to give the Vikings (3-1-2)) a 2-0 lead. Layden also drew a foul that led to a penalty kick for UC in the first half. Gunsiorowski, a sophomore, converted on the PK, her fourth of the season.

Rouba, a junior, made eight saves to preserve the win for UC against a very good Kent Place team that came into the game with a 4-0-1 record.

The Vikings will be back in action this Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. when they host Johnson.
