LINDEN, NJ -- Christina Layden scored twice, Caroline Morgan scored, and Meghan Gelcius played a strong game in goal to lead Union Catholic to a 3-1 victory at Linden on Tuesday for its first victory of the season 

The triumph for the Vikings, now 1-2, marked the first career victory as head girls soccer coach for first-year head coach Ed Ryan.

UC got on the board first when Layden converted off a corner kick 13 minutes into the game to give the Vikings a 1-0 halftime lead.

Morgan put UC up 2-0 early in the second half when she scored from 18 yards out.

After Linden cut the lead to 2-1, Layden scored off a feed from Alexandra Bonn to close out the scoring.

Gelcius made the lead stand up by making six saves for UC.
