SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Nine months after meeting with the stakes much higher, the varsity girls soccer teams from Ridge and Scotch Plains-Fanwood high schools met on Saturday to settle a score.

Instead, nothing was "settled" as the two Group 4 state powerhouses played to a 0-0 tie in Scotch Plains.

Last November, Scotch Plains-Fanwood defeated Ridge, 3-2, in double overtime in the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 4 championship game. Both teams are expected to contend for the title again this fall.
