Girls Soccer: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Defeats Westfield, 2-1, to Win County Title

CLARK, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School varsity girls soccer team won its sixth straight Union County championship, 2-1, against Westfield Saturday. 

The Blue Devils entered the matchup as the underdogs statistically, as they had only outscored their opponents 28-20, while the Raiders have blown away opponents all year, outscoring them 67-3.

Caroline Babis and Christina Rodgers each scored a goal for the Raiders, while Blue Devil Hannah Liddy had the lone tally for Westfield. Scotch Plains goalkeeper Andrea Leitner stopped seven shots, while her counterpart, Lizzie Brucia, made six saves for Westfield.

With this victory, the Raiders earned their 20th Union County title.
