SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Lady Raiders improved to 5-0 with a 3-0 win Saturday against Summit.
The game was tied for most of the first half, but with 6:33 left in the period Leah Klurman scored to put the Raiders up 1-0.
The Raiders scored two more goals, and three goalkeepers combined on a shutout to secure the win. With 31:20 left in the second half Holly Nelson scored off a feed from Faith Price to put the Raiders up 2-0. Just a minute later, Corinne Lyght received a pass from Alexa Fazio to put the Raiders up 3-0.
“We had to come out with the same intensity we came out with against Westfield and Cranford, and we could not underestimate Summit,” Corinne Lyght told TAPintoSPF after the game. “Once we started spreading the field and getting through balls, that is when we were able to capitalize.”
“We had a pretty good second half compared to our first half,” Raiders coach Kevin Ewing said.
Looking ahead to next game against Oak Knoll, Coach Ewing said that their team needed to work on moving the ball and playing a full eighty-minute game.
The Lady Raiders will be back in action against Oak Knoll on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 4:00 p.m. at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's Wexler Field.
