SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Izzy DiDario, Union Catholic's dynamic two-sport star, was recently recognized for her great play during this past soccer season by being named to the Union County Conference First-Team by the Union County Girls Soccer Coaches Association.

DiDario, a senior, had four shutouts and averaged 10.5 saves per game as the goalie for Union Catholic.

One of the biggest highlights of the season for DiDario came when she made numerous remarkable saves in a 1-0 upset shootout victory over Summit in the second round of the Union County Tournament.

DiDario, who had 20 saves in the game, clinched the victory by stopping Summit's final shot in the shootout.

“It was great to be recognized,’’ said DiDario. “It made me feel really good about how
I played.  “My team supported me all season and I couldn’t have done it without them.’’    

DiDario is also a star guard on the UC basketball team. She scored 11 points, and had 11 rebounds and five assists when the Vikings opened its season with a 62-24 victory at Hillside this past Saturday.
