Girls Swimming: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Dominates Union, 110-56, in Home Opener

FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood girls swim team swept every race against an overmatched team from Union by a score of 110-56 at Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Perennially contenders for the state championship, the girls lost Stephanie Judge, who now swims for UMASS, but have a number of returning seniors, including three members of the 200 Medley Relay team that won first place at the counties last year: Rachel Maizes, a University of Pennsylvania commit, Erika Frazier, and Megan Small. DeeDee Maizes, a Cornell University commit, returns for her senior year, as well. 

The roster also includes seniors Olivia Barcia, Hannah Davis, Anna Dunchus, Lauren Eck, Mackenzie Inacker, Alyssa Mongiovi, Nina Paradiso, Molly Pritchett, Cara Raderman, and Sydney VonOehsen. Returning juniors are: Aubrey Bagdonas, Rachel DiFabrizio, Ellie Richard, Caroline Warren, and Lucy Zhang. Sophomores Julianna Blanco, Nicole Kenny, Isha Rai, and Chloe Yang, and freshmen Kaleigh Einhorn, Lily Holston, Sofia Leonetti, Emma Route, Abby Ryan, and Rachel Small make up the rest of the squad.

The girls are now 2-0 on the season after defeating Kent Place on the road on Tuesday.
