Girls Volleyball: Union Catholic Advances to State Semifinal Round

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic volleyball team, ranked No. 12 in the state by, advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament with a straight sets victory over Mount St. Dominic on Saturday in Scotch Plains.

With the victory, the second-seeded Vikings will now take on third-seeded Hudson Catholic, the No. 2 ranked team in the state, on Wednesday in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Non-Public Tournament at 7 p.m. at Union Catholic. The Union Catholic-Hudson Catholic winner will advance to the state final, which is scheduled for this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at William Paterson University.  
In its 25-16, 25-16 victory over Mount St. Dominic, Olivia Szyszkiewicz had 10 service points, 12 assists, ad six digs for UC. Jackie Bollwage had 15 service points and two aces, Bella Giaccobe registered 14 kills, Emily Jones had 11 assists, Najlaa Williams had 11 digs and five service points, and Mackenzie Fuhrmann came up with nine digs.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
