FANWOOD, NJ -- Long-time residents and new families gathered together on Sept. 8 on the Glenwood Road portion of Fanwood for the return of the neighborhood's annual block party included the North and South Glenwood loop as well as Timberline Drive, Shasta Pass, Rainier Road and Sun Valley.
Mild clouds and occasional sprinkles didn't keep people away as an about 200+ were in attendance. Our very own Mayor Colleen Mahr came out to celebrate the day and meet many new families to the area.
The full day party included fun for the kids such as a For Kids/By Kids Face-Painting tent as well as a large Bounce jungle with slide.
The menu included a delicious BBQ and a well stocked Pot Luck of apps/desserts, and a visit from Mohammed's Ice Cream Truck. DJ Ronald Gaither was there playing tunes, running limbo contests, trivia and handling out slap bracelets.
Money was raised for Alex's Lemonade Stand to fight Pediatric Cancer. Residents and friends enjoyed new introductions and long conversations. Play activities such as bocce, horse-shoe, kan-jam were strong while beer-pong and corn-hole drew more fans into later hours.
