FANWOOD, NJ --  The annual Women’s Heart Health Fair will again be sponsored by Go Red for Women by the American Heart Association, The Chelsea at Fanwood and Big World Little Hearts on "Wear Red Day,"  Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The event at The Chelsea at Fanwood (295 South Ave.) will offer a variety of hors d’oeuvres and wine and will help educate women (and men) on the importance of heart health. Blood pressure checks will be offered by the Fanwood Rescue Squad and several vendors and raffles will be at the event as well.

National Wear Red Day® brings attention to cardiovascular disease, which kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds in America. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red For Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health.

Go Red For Women encourages people to “Know Your Numbers.” It’s knowledge that could save your life.  Five numbers, that all women should know to take control of their heart health are:

  1. Total Cholesterol,
  2. HDL (good) Cholesterol,
  3. Blood Pressure,
  4. Blood Sugar, and
  5. Body Mass Index (BMI).

Knowing these numbers can help women and their healthcare provider determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. It’s time for all women to learn the most critical numbers in their life — their hearts depend on it.
