SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- During the Week of the Young Child, April 11- April 15, students at The Goddard School for early childhood education are showcasing art works at local establishments including Darby Road, Grillestone, and FroYo World (405 Park Ave.) in Scotch Plains, and Yapple Yogurt in Westfield.

The masterpieces were created by the budding artists using a developmentally appropriate Art History curriculum that exposes even the youngest children to famous artists and different art mediums. Infants replicated Chrysanthemums by Monet using different textured brushes and experiences different colors. Pre-K students learned about geometry and practiced fine motor skills creating their Line Over Form collages in the style of Mondrian. Kindergarteners emulated Andy Warhol dyptichs with their own faces.

Seeing their work displayed at the local restaurants helps create a sense of pride and self-confidence for the children art while building a sense of community.
