WESTFIELD, NJ — A GoFundMe page created to help the Tooley family after a fire destroyed their home on Prospect Street has raised more than $200,000 since Monday.

Jake Tooley, a Wesfield High School class of 2016 graduate, died in the fire early Monday morning. He was laid to rest Thursday.

The family also lost their puppy, as well as most of their possessions, according to the GoFundMe page.

Joe Petti, who created fundraiser on behalf of the family, wrote that they never could have fathomed the amount of support they have received.

“We offer the most sincere gratitude to all of those involved with donating, sharing and promoting the Tooley Family Fund,” Petti wrote. “Without you none of this would be possible. While the funds are obviously no consolation for the loss of life, it serves as a great tribute to Jake and the remarkable legacy and family that he leaves behind.”
