Golf: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Wins Sectional Title; Jimmy Bagdonas Individual County Champion

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Raider golf team has had an accomplished season thus far. After an early season win at the Bombers Invitational Tournament and having a 13-3 regular season record, the team is finishing the season strong.

Last Thursday, the team finished as runner-ups in the Union County Tournament at Echo Lake Country Club. The team was led by junior Jimmy Bagdonas firing a 3 over par 74. Jimmy took home the individual county championship after defeating George Snell from Westfield in a playoff. Seniors Louie Daniele and Sam Colao finished tied for 5th, both shooting 77.

On Monday, the team won the North 2 Group 3 State Sectional title at Darlington Golf Club in Mahwah. This is the golf team’s first win in this event since 2013. The team was led by senior Jared Bloom, who shot a round of 2 under par, 70. Bloom finished in second place in a field of around 70 golfers.
