WEST ORANGE, NJ -- Aided by yet another hat trick by Jared Figueroa, Scotch Plains-Fanwood scored six goals in the second period as the Raiders pummeled Pascack Valley, 9-1, at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Figueroa's hat trick lifted his career total to 101. He also had an assist. Adam Glod had two goals and an assist, while Tim Lamberta also scored for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Thomas Bruckman added a goal and two assists in the win. Phil Ignomirello made 18 saves.
"Honestly, the 100 goals means a lot to me. As a freshman it was only a joke for me that I was actually going to do it. But then I realized if I really put the time and effort into it that it can actually come true," Figueroa said. "After scoring that goal it's like starting a new chapter in your life. If you keep grinding and putting the effort in to something you love and have passion for you should do what you do best and just play the sport."
"He has a natural talent for hockey. We have never seen a player as good in SPF history," said Coach Matt Gunther. "He is a huge contributor."
Trent Shanley scored Pascack Valley's loan goal.
The Raiders are now 5-10-4 overall. They next play Verona on Sunday, Jan. 22.
