SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Township of Scotch Plains, The Borough of Fanwood, American Legion Post 209, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10122, and St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church have partnered to honor local veterans by lining the main streets with banners picturing our veterans and noting their branch and years of service.

The banner program seeks to recognize  Scotch Plains/Fanwood veterans (living and deceased) and active duty military who have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines or Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WWII).

“This project came about because one person thought we should honor our veterans in the same way some of our surrounding towns have. We approached the mayors of Scotch Plains and Fanwood and within minutes got an emphatic yes,” said Elaine Coupe, Director of Community Outreach at St. Bartholomew Church. “This community loves our Veterans and this is the perfect way to show how proud we are.”
