MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ -- Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, began its 6th year of providing grief support to over 250 children and adults. Currently operating on five different nights of support, Imagine provides free peer support groups for children, families and young adults after the death of a parent or sibling, as well as support for families living with a life-altering illness.

Imagine utilizes the generous time given by over 90 volunteers to facilitate the support groups.  These volunteers pledge 4 hours every other week to be the loving listeners that grieving people need.  After a 4-day, 32-hour training, volunteers are able to create the safe environment for all participants to share memories, express feelings and explore coping strategies.

Now in its new location in Mountainside, Imagine is able to provide support for many more grieving families.

“Since moving into a newly renovated space with rooms specifically designed to support grieving children and families, we have seen an almost 20% increase in interest in the program. Clearly, there is a need for support and we are honored to be able to provide it,” said Mandi Zucker, Imagine’s Program Director.

With the growing need for support, new volunteers are also needed.  Imagine completes two facilitator trainings each year. The next one will be in early 2018.  If you are interested in learning more about Imagine, or want to explore facilitating a support group, contact Imagine at 908-264-3100.
