The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) is proud to offer the 7th Grade Initiative, a program that offers a free one-year Y membership to all 7th graders in Clark, Fanwood and Scotch Plains. The membership is effective for incoming 7th graders from June 22, 2018 to August 31, 2019.

At FSPY, we know that 7th grade is a pivotal and transitional time for many teens. It’s the time when teens are given freedom to choose how they spend their free time. Habits that begin in the 7th grade are likely to continue into adulthood. FSPY wants to support and encourage kids to make good decisions and form healthy habits that lead to a healthy lifestyle.

The 7th Grade Initiative program provides opportunities for health and wellness and socializing with peers in a safe, supervised and conveniently located environment. Students who take advantage of this opportunity can take part in FSPY’s 7th Grade Wellness Program, which will educate them on the proper use of equipment in the Wellness Center and give them access to the Center during scheduled times every day once an assessment is completed. They also can partake in open gym and open swim, free programs geared to teens such as cycle, Zumba and yoga, as well as have access to our Fun Interactive Training (FIT) room, a place where 7th graders can have fun with their friends and be active.
