Jam Kancer in The Kan to Hold Summer Jam event on Sat, Aug. 19, at Darby Road


SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Jam Kancer in The Kan Foundation will hold its inaugural Summer Jam fundraising event on Saturday, August 19, at Darby Road (450 Park Ave., Scotch Plains), beginning at 11:00 a.m. when the restaurant opens.

Darby Road will donate 20% of its revenue that day/night back to the Foundation. In addition to food and drink specials, there will be Kan Jam fundraising events beginning at3:00 pm with prizes to be awarded. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Jam Kancer in The Kan Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity that provides support to organizations assisting families battling cancer.  

After the Scotch Plains Farmers Market concludes for the day at 2:00 p.m., the Summer Jam will have fundraising activities for the entire family including Kan Jam challenges, balloons and tattoos for children from From 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. There will also be challenges throughout the day and evening for adult Kan Jam enthusiasts to win prizes, which include Kan Jam branded merchandise, Darby Road Gift Cards and tickets to area sporting events, etc.

Since its inception in 2014, utilizing the popularity of the backyard game Kan Jam, the Foundation has raised nearly $250,000 to benefit patients and families afflicted with cancer. Proceeds from last year’s Jam Kancer In The Kan Tournament were donated to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in support of the outstanding treatment of Scotch Plains resident, Kyle Brainard. This year’s tournament, the fourth annual, will be held Satruday, Sept. 23 at Highland Swim Club in Scotch Plains.
