SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The JCC of Central New Jersey has three competitive swim programs. The Barracudas Swim Team (ages 6 - 18) is the most competitive team; the Mini-Barracudas (ages 5 - 8) introduces children to the swim team program, and the IntraCudas (ages 8-18) is the intramural program. The Barracudas are beginning their 21th season competing in the New Jersey JCC-YMHA Swim League.

On Wednesday, July 25, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the JCC will host Meet the Coaches night for all in the community who are interested in any of the JCC swim teams. The event will be at the JCC (1391 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains). Come meet Barracudas’ Head Coach Laura Bransky and learn all about the three programs. If you are new to the JCC, you can also get a tour of our facility and learn about all membership options and benefits.

Openings are limited for the Barracudas Swim Team, and all potential new swimmers must attend one stroke evaluation session. The stroke evaluation sessions are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 29, and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30. For those unable to attend the summer dates, two more stroke evaluations will be held in September.

What Is Your Bottom Line?

This week's Parshah (Torah reading) is the Parshah of Pinchas the Zealot: the courageous young priest who stood up against idolatry and immorality and, in the end, saved Israel from a devastating plague.
