SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished the season with a record of 18-3-2 and was named one of the top 50 girls teams in the nation, No. 8 in the Mid-Atlantic region, and No. 4 in the State of New Jersey, according to Top Drawer Soccer's new rankings. A big part of the success of the team was the play of Corinne Lyght, this week's Joint Motion Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week.

Lyght, a junior forward, scored 19 goals on top of ten assists for the Raiders this season. Blessed with speed and size, she was a scoring threat whenever she took the field. In addition to having a strong regular season, Lyght shined during tournament time. She scored the Raiders' only goal in the County Championship game on Oct. 21 -- a game in which the Blue Devils won in a shootout after two overtime periods. She had a hat trick in Scotch Plains-Fanwood's 9-0 win over Perth Amboy on Oct. 28. Later, she contributed an assist in the Raiders' 4-0 domination of Westfield on Nov. 4, and another assist in a tough, 2-0 win over Bridgewater-Raritan.

In the state semifinal game, just when it seemed as though Montclair was going to advance to the state championship game, Lyght scored the equalizer for Scotch Plains-Fanwood with 10:18 left to play. (Seven minutes later, sophomore Leah Klurman sent the Raiders to their first ever State final, by putting the ball in the net with 3:37 remaining in the game in a thrilling, 2-1 come-from-behind victory
