Junior Musical Club Presents a Free Concert Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 pm in Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ -- The Junior Musical Club is proud to present its annual Ensemble Concert on Wednesday, March 29, at 7:30 pm, in the First Baptist Church, 170 Elm Street, Westfield. Club members in eighth grade and high school from the local area will join together in duets, trios and quartets, playing the most popular music of the past 250 years along with the music of today. The public is welcome to attend the concert free of charge. Refreshments will be served at a reception following the performance.

The concert presents soprano Samantha Sprechman, alto and songwriter Rachel Hamelburg, Junlin Yi, violin, and Mikael Evans, piano, performing Rachel's own “Not Giving Up (On You)”. Junlin Yi and Suraj Chandran, violin, Mira Yang, viola, and Marisa Li, cello, play two movements of Benjamin Britten's Simple Symphony. Victoria Tian, flute, and Mira Yang, piano, render Little Piece for Flute and Piano by Grace Hull, a 1944 winner of a Musical Club of Westfield scholarship.

Divya Narayanan and Victoria Tian, flute, and Marisa Li, cello, play the first movement of Joseph Haydn's Divertimento in C Major (The London Trio No. 1). Dan Shenker and Katie Zhuang, piano four-hands, perform Robert Vandall's Jubilation! Soprano Samantha Sprechman with Katie Zhuang, piano, sings Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk's “Say the Word”.

Elizabeth Hendy, violin, Dan Shenker and Katie Zhuang, piano, present the first movement of Concerto in D minor, Op. 47, by Jean Sibelius. Florian Schantz, trumpet, and Mikael Evans, piano, play the Polish traditional Clarinet Polka. Dan Shenker, alto saxophone and Ashlen Suen, clarinet, render Mozart's Andantino along with the hymn “Amazing Grace”.

Suraj Chandran and Ray Huang, alto saxophones, Ovidio Chavez, tenor saxophone, and Stanislav Delaurentis, baritone saxophone, play Freddie Mercury's “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Rachel Hamelburg and Ashlen Suen, clarinets, present the second movement of Symphony No. 9 in E minor (From the New World) by Antonin Dvořák.

The Junior Musical Club invites everyone to this annual event, the only public concert featuring all members of the Club. Also, you are most welcome to the reception after the concert to meet the artists.
