FANWOOD, NJ -- Beginning on March 3, sixth degree black belt and co-owner and operator, Adam Sackett of Family Martial Arts Center in Parsippany will teach a beginner karate class at the Forest Road Building in Fanwood every Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
Family Martial Arts is part of the American Budo Kai, an association of karate schools in the NJ and NY area, tracing its roots back the early 1970s. The style of Karate being taught is Isshinryu Karate, which means "One Hearted Way," and the focus is on betterment of one's mind, body, and spirit.
Adam Sackett has taught karate in the Morris County area for over 20 years and since moving to Scotch Plains in 2004, it has been a goal to branch out to our great towns of Scotch Plains and Fanwood. The goal is to grow and expand into Scotch Plains and Fanwood with the start of this class.
On top of his teaching, Sackett has also coached soccer in town for 8 years and is known for his caring, thoughtful, and patient teaching style.
"I look at each student individually with their own unique style and skills and I guarantee all of my students will receive extra special care from me," Sackett explained.
Karate brings numerous benefits on tops of improving one's health and fitness. It leads to improvements in focus, self-confidence, self-discipline and a better positive attitude. Kids and teens who study karate, quite often see an improvement in grades, and for adults, better performance at work.
