Letters to the Editor

Kudos to Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12th District) for her letter recommending an independent commission to continue the investigation of Russian involvement in our 2016 election.

I, as an American citizen, am appalled at what is transpiring with the current administration, particularly the President, in what appears to be interference in this matter. I, strongly, feel our country is almost literally being run by one man based on his self-serving needs, ignorance (or denial) of our system of checks and balances and now unabashed threats, e.g., tweet letting James Comey know there had better not be any tapes leaked of their conversations.

Donald Trump as President is not above the law just as all of us are not. Therefore, for the sake of our country's principles and system of government, I support the need for an independent commission. I say this since it is quite obvious to me that we can not trust the man in charge and all those who insist upon looking the other way when it comes to his behavior and seeming inability to honestly govern.

The Day After

Some years ago, the United Nations held the International Summit on Sustainable Development, here in Johannesburg. The Summit was a great success. Good ideas and worthwhile projects are suggested regularly. The question is, do they ...
