Ladies Night Out Event Celebrates Fanwood, Attracts Shoppers from Afar

FANWOOD, NJ -- The 6th annual Ladies Night Out in Fanwood kicked off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, with dozens of women lined up to register and pick up a goody bag filled with coupons for local businesses and tickets to win prizes at a tricky tray raffle.

Sponsored this year by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce which represents Fanwood businesses, the event featured virtually all of Fanwood’s downtown businesses plus some visiting ones. Ladies Night Out attracted 250 participants from Fanwood, Scotch Plains, Old Bridge, Maplewood, and even New York City.

"People from out of town told me they came back again this year because they had so much fun last year," Fanwood Business Development consultant Liz Jeffery, who helped organize the event.

The goal each year is to bring walk-in business to Fanwood’s downtown, which has enjoyed significant growth over the past several years. Thursday's event was supported by Mayor Colleen Mahr and several staff and volunteers of the GWACC.

The event was organized by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce (GWACC), which includes Fanwood. Participating businesses include: Crown Jewelers, d. Lindsay Salon, Enchantments, Fabio's Pizza, Family Investors, The Fanwood Grille, Fanwood Liquors, Houdini Pizza LaboratoryMara's CafeNick's Pizza, Nit a Bit, Rocko's Ice Cream, Scotchwood Florist, Seng Couture, Shalom Nails, Sheelen's Crossing, and others. is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
