SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Blizzard warnings have been issued for parts of eight states in the Northeast, including portions of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, according to Weather.com. Winter Storm Stella could be the first March snowstorm of a foot or more around New York City since March 3-4, 1960.

On Tuesday, snow will be heavy at times and possibly will mix with freezing drizzle in the afternoon. The temperature will be around 27 degrees with wind chill values between 10 and 15, as gusts may be as high as 39 mph. New snow accumulation is expected to be 12 to 18 inches, according to Weather.gov.

SPF schools and municipal offices will be closed on Tuesday. Police are asking for drivers to remain off the roads and to pull their cars onto their driveways.
