SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Scotch Plains residents could be forgiven for thinking they were being invaded Saturday morning, as Storm Troopers and a variety of other characters streamed down Park Avenue.  Mayor Nancy Malool stopped to pose with a few of the characters out front of the Little Shop of Comics.

The characters were there because it was the 10th annual “free comic book day”, a nation-wide event.   Owners of the shop, Lena and Steve Olsen, see this day as “a celebration of a unique American Art Form.”

Patrons were treated to free comic books, special sales and the opportunity to pose and get pictures with the character of their choice.

While this particular event only happens once a year, the Little Shop of Comics is host to a myriad of events every week.  Check out the calendar at http://www.littleshopofcomics.com/
