SCOTCH PLAINS/CLARK, NJ - Local business owners will benefit from the creation of a new chapter of  Business Network International (BNI). The BNI is the world’s largest networking organization, and ensures that each new business joining the organization follows ethical business practices.

“To me, having thirty-five folks who I know of who can help me grow my business is tremendous,” says Steve Goldberg, president of the BNI Playmakers, a current BNI chapter that meets in Scotch Plains. Goldberg also speaks of the significance of having “decent referrals…folks to trust to do good work for myself and my clients.”

The new chapter of the BNI, called BNI Synapse, will host a Kickoff Networking Breakfast on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 7 to 9 AM at the Holiday Inn, Clark.

BNI is a business organization that allows only one person per profession to join its chapters. “Each chapter has one realtor, one photographer, one business banker, and so on,” says Claudia MacDermott,  a Senior Director for BNI. “BNI members become a close knit sales team and focus on helping one another’s businesses grow.  Using a “Givers Gain” mentality, members learn to keep an eye open for new business contacts that might benefit other members.”

Because of their policy of allowing one person per profession to join a chapter, each new BNI chapter offers a new opportunity for professionals who have not yet had the chance to join. Although the BNI Synapse group will meet in Clark, businesses from Scotch Plains, Fanwood or any local area are welcome to join. Meetings are held weekly, and referrals are exchanged in a very structured manner.

Wayne Zuhl, residential realtor with Hallmark Realtors and the chapter’s President says,   “Referred business is the best business. BNI has a time-proven program to help business people generate word of mouth referrals.  It makes sense for us to team up and create this new chapter.”  BNI members carry each other’s business cards and will actually hand them out to someone who needs the services of one of the members.
