SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- Union County Magnet School (Scotch Plains | Union County Vocational-Technical School District) rated No. 4 overall among New Jersey high schools and #105 in the National rankings, according to new rankings published by U.S. News and World Report.The magazine determines rankings based on their performance on state-required tests and how well the high schools prepare students for college. 

Union County Magnet School has a 100% graduation rate and scored highly on the magazine's College Readiness Index (82.8). (U.S. News calculates these values based on student performance on state exit exams and internationally available exams on college-level course work (AP® exams). The Magnet School's AP® participation rate is 84% of whom 98% passed.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School rated No. 42 in New Jersey and No. 898 nationally, according to the report. The AP® participation rate at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School is 53%, and of those, 81% passed. The student body (1,572 total) is 50 percent male and 50 percent female, while total minority enrollment is 27 percent.
