Man Caught on Camera Shoplifting Booze From Westfield Store

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield police are investigating a shoplifting at Liquor Basket on Quimby Street.

According to this week’s police blotter, an unknown suspect shoplifted more than $150 worth of liquor from the business on Sunday, Jan. 28 around 9 p.m.

The suspect was captured on Liquor Basket’s video camera. A screenshot of the video was later posted on Facebook by the business owner and shared to the Westfield, NJ Facebook Group.*

In the Facebook group, the owner revealed that the suspect took one bottle of Jack Daniels, a four-pack variety of Johnny Walker Premium Scotch and one bottle of chocolate liquor.

The suspect later returned and unsuccessfully attempted to take two bottles of Hennessy and a gift pack of Chambord Liqueur, according to the Facebook post.

In the Facebook group, the owner asked that anyone with information contact the Westfield Police Department at 908-789-4000.

Rory Chadwick, owner of Midtown Authentic in Downtown Westfield, is offering a $200 reward to anyone who can give him the name of the suspect, if it leads to an arrest. Chadwick can be reached at 201-253-0470
