Mara’s Café & Bakery to Host First-Ever Comedy Night on Apr. 4

Mara’s Café & Bakery (250 South Ave., Fanwood) will host ‘Fools for the Fourth’, their first-ever comedy night on Friday, April 4 from 8-10:30 P.M. The night of comedy will include prizes, giveaways and a light buffet.

Gordon Baker-Bone, winner of the 2011 New Jersey Comedy Festival – “King of Campus Comedy,” amongst other notable achievements, will headline the event. Baker-Bone is a local favorite and has performed in the tri-state area including the Stress Factory, COMIX at Foxwoods Comedy and some venues in New York City.

Brian Rabadeau, a Fanwood resident will host the comedy night, which will also include feature acts by Karlyn Briggs and Jerrold Benford.

“If this goes well, we are going to try to do an event like this once a month,” said Paul Michael O’Laughlin, general manager of Mara’s Café & Bakery.

Mara’s Café & Bakery requires that all audience members of the comedy night must be 18 years of age or older. There is a two coffee drink minimum for the comedy night. 

Tickets to the comedy night are $8 and can be purchased through Mara’s Café & Bakery in advance.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
