Maryann Farrell to Be Inducted into the Union Catholic Hall of Fame on Sept. 30

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Maryann Farrell, who made a lasting impression and impact on her students over a remarkable teaching career at Union Catholic, will be inducted into the Union Catholic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 30.

A graduate of Monmouth University, Mrs. Farrell began teaching English at the Union Catholic in 1977 and remained part of the fabric of the school through 2014. She was chair of the English Department at UC for two years, was named Teacher of the Year at the high school for the 1999-2000 school term, and received the Outstanding Educator of the Year award by the Archdiocese of Newark in 2000.

Mrs. Farrell supervised the remedial education program, and helped develop the first ever Multicultural English course at Union Catholic, and also served as the moderator for the yearbook and National Honor Society. She “retired” from teaching in 2000, but returned to work in the Student Affairs office for five years before working in the admissions and development departments until 2014.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
