FANWOOD, NJ -- Mayor Colleen Mahr presented a proclamation for Girl Scout Week to girls from Troops 40370 and 40777, along with Julie Murphy, a member of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scout Service Team, at Monday's Fanwood Council meeting. 

There are almost 800 Girl Scouts in Fanwood-Scotch Plains. The organization was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, GA. Nationwide, there are 1.8 million girls and 800,000 volunteer adults involved in Girl Scouts.
