“Monument Man” Harry Ettlinger to Speak at UJA Event at Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club

“Monument Man” Harry Ettlinger will be the guest speaker at a luncheon following the combined men’s and women’s golf tournament to benefit the 2014 United Jewish Appeal Campaign of Greater MetroWest. The event will be held on Sunday, June 8, at the Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club in Scotch Plains.

The 2014 UJA Day and Golf Tournament will begin with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 8:30, and lunch at 1 p.m. Peter Pogany, Ruth Pogany, Cathy Tabak, and Jay Weinberg are Shackamaxon UJA chairs.

One of the original members of the World War II unit known as the “Monuments Men,” (the subject of the recent movie of the same name directed by George Clooney), Ettlinger will share his personal experiences in locating and recovering Nazi stolen art and speak about the vital need to preserve cultural treasures. Non-golf players are invited to a screening of Monuments Men at 10:30 a.m., which will be followed by the 1 p.m. lunch.
