Mozart & More with Woodland String Quartet at Scotch Plains Public Library

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Woodland String Quartet will perform their 47th annual Mozart and More concert at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Monday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme is A Little Night Music, anchored by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Serenade in Four Movements (“Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”). The rest of the program will consist of selections from classic Broadway musicals: Oklahoma, The Music Man, and Carousel, with vocals by mezzo-soprano Tracy Kaufman.

First violinist Debra Biderman has been performing with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 1967 and is a private instructor of violin and viola at the Biderman Academy of Music in Edison. She is a frequent soloist and recitalist, and is on the board of trustees of the Education Outreach and Marketing committees of the New Jersey Symphony.

Violinist Lubove Schnable has her home studio in Fanwood and is the director of the Woodland Quartet as well as director of the Blue Hills Junior Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Schnable performs with the Central Jersey Symphony, the Plainfield Symphony, and the Summit Symphony.

Violist Robert Paoli is the director of the Summit Strings, president of the Plainfield Music Club, and a prolific composer and arranger.

Cellist Leo Wang has toured worldwide with the Shanghai Philharmonic. He teaches privately in Fanwood.

Vocal soloist Tracy Kaufman is an Edison, NJ native now living in Colorado. She has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Central City Opera Ensemble, Colorado Repertory Singers, and Boulder Opera.

This program is free and open to all interested participants. Registration is not required for this event, and seating will be on a first come, first seated basis beginning at 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the performance.

The Scotch Plains Public Library is located at 1927 Bartle Ave., one block from Park Avenue in the center of town.
