NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- The New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra is excited to begin its 26th season on Monday, Sept. 16, with an Open House rehearsal. Interested musicians are invited to come to NJIO at 570 Central Ave., New Providence, on Monday evening at the following times:

  • 4:30 - 5:30 Prelude Ensemble, for beginning string players of all ages 
  • 5:45 - 7:00 Intermezzo Orchestra, for advanced beginner to intermediate orchestral musicians of all ages
  • 7:15 - 9:30 Symphony Orchestra, for intermediate to advanced orchestral musicians of all ages

There will be another Open House on Monday, Sept. 23, at the same place and at the same times. Open House rehearsals are a no-obligation and no-cost way to test drive the orchestra and see if it is a good fit for you. Come get the feel of the orchestra and see why the musicians love being a part of the NJIO family!

Mark it on your calendar: NJIO’s first concert, "Melodic Inspirations", is Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Crescent Ave. Presbyterian Church in Plainfield. Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director Warren Cohen, will perform works by Barber, Schumann, and Ponchilli, and will feature NJIO's 2018 Concerto Competition Winner and a guest conductor. Intermezzo Orchestra will perform pieces by Beethoven and Schubert. Be sure to arrive half an hour early to catch Prelude Ensemble’s performance in the lobby, and Flute Choir’s performance at intermission!
