SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Award-winning author of over 120 books Joseph Bruchac will visit Park Middle School on March 20. For over thirty years, Bruchac has been creating poetry, short stories, novels, anthologies and music that reflect his Native American heritage and traditions. He will present to the whole school, run a small writing workshop, and have a private lunch with approximately 10 lucky students.

Bruchac's books include the best selling Keepers of the Earth: Native American Stories and Environmental Activities for Children and others of his “Keepers” series, with its remarkable integration of science and folklore, continue to receive critical acclaim and to be used in classrooms throughout the country. He is also known for books including Code Talker: A Novel About The Navajo Marines of WWII, The Legend of Skeleton Man, March Toward The Thunder, Sacajawau, and Sasquatch and The Muckleshoot, among others.
All interested Park students can enter to win one of ten seats at a private lunch with Joseph Bruchac. Simply write a letter explaining why they should get one of those seats, and submit it to Mrs. Herniter in the Media Center from 3/6-3/18/19. Good luck!

 

All students and faculty are invited to order books to be personally signed by the author while he’s here. Park Middle families can print a BOOK ORDER FORM or have their student get one from their Language Arts teacher, the media center, or main office. Park Middle families can also now ORDER BOOKS ONLINE from the Park PTA Store.

All books will be delivered to Park Middle, signed by the author during his visit, then distributed via homeroom teachers.
