Lake Avenue will be closed southbound to Armstrong Drive until approximately 4 p.m. according to Lt. Michael Pollock of the Clark Police Department.

Thursday’s milling and paving will repair a seam in the road caused by a pipe installation related to the construction project at the former Miele’s Nursery site.

The following detours will be set up:

  • Vehicles traveling southbound from Scotch Plains/Fanwood will turn left on Oak Ridge Road (at Rotondo’s Liquor and Deli) to Raritan Road, turn right on right on Walter Drive, right on Thomas Drive, left on Charlotte Drive, right on Armstrong Drive and then left onto Lake Avenue.
  • Vehicles traveling northbound from Colonia/Rahway will turn right on Armstrong Drive, left on Charlotte Drive, right on Thomas Drive, left on Walter Drive, left on Raritan Road to Oak Ridge Road, then right on Lake Avenue.

Pollock said the closure will begin after morning school drop-off hours and the bulk of the morning rush hour, but delays through the area are expected throughout the day. Motorists should avoid the area if possible.
