SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The job market is more competitive than ever. In a world where multiple people have similar skill sets, the jobs aren’t always granted to those most qualified but to those who can strategically stay in touch with the right people at the right time – when the job is available. The Career Networking Group will meet at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Monday, Nov. 10 at 6:30pm to learn this technique.

In this presentation, John Genovese will discuss how to find the right people to stay in touch with for finding the job you want, how to sell yourself via email and social media, and how to build and structure a follow-up system that gets results and isn’t annoying. John is a marketing technology strategist and business development professional for Cognizant Business Consulting. He is also the co-founder of PolitePersistence, a startup built on the belief that following up more accelerates business and personal growth.

John has worked with clients from the Fortune 500, Wall St., as well as major advocacy groups. He has spoken at Princeton University and other venues on business and technology startup topics. He is also a mentor with TechLaunch where he coaches startups on how to utilize the lean startup methodology to grow their business and strategic influence.

Why We Keep Kosher

Why We Keep Kosher

This week's parshah, Shemini, introduces the Torah's dietary laws. Animals must chew their cud and have split hooves to be kosher, fish need fins and scales, and a list of forbidden fowl is enumerated.

To those of us in Jewish education, it is a continuing source of disappointment that so many Jews still believe the kosher laws to be outdated.
