SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains High School Pops Concert was held on Wednesday night in the school's auditorium. The school's various bands and musical groups performed a variety of musical selections from classical works to Disney's Frozen and everything in between.
 
The Concert Band brought "Frozen" to life, the Symphonic Band performed highly recognizable pieces from Tchaikovsky, and the Wind Ensemble performing highlights from Les Miserables.
 
 
Also wowing the crowd were the Percussion Ensemble, Rhythmsense, the Moonglowers and the SPF Jazz Band. 
 
The musicians performed under the direction of district music teachers Vincent Turturiello, Durand Thomas, Joseph Reo, Charles Jackson, and student teacher (and SPF alumni) Josef Ellis.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
