SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Primary Elections will be held on Tuesday, June 5, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sample ballots have been mailed to Scotch Plains and Fanwood registered voters.

For U.S. Senator, Lisa McCormick is challenging the incumbent Bob Mendendez for the Democratic party line. For U.S. Senator, Bob Hugin is challenging Brian Goldberg in the only contested race for the Republican nod.  

Bonnie Watson Coleman is running unopposed in the Democratic primarily for her seat in the House of Representatives. Daryl Kipnis is running unopposed in the Republican primarily for Watson's seat.

Voters may pick three of the following six Democratic candidates for the Union County Freeholders:

  • Al Mirabella (Regular Democratic Org.) vs  Alex Lospinoso  (Team Armstead)
  • Andrea F. Staten (Regular Democratic Org.) vs. Patrick Gargano (Team Armstead)
  • Kimberly Mouded  (Regular Democratic Org.) vs.   Kalby Sandoval  (Team Armstead)

In Fanwood, Councilwoman Erin McElroy Barker and newcomer Patricia Walsh are running unopposed in the Democratic primary. The Republicans have only one candidate, Brian Walter, running for Council.

Elizabeth Stamler, Roshan White and Josh Losardo are running unopposed as the Democratic candidates for Township Council. Andrew Bondarowicz, Sonali Dalvi and Jeff Kowalczyk are running unopposed to be the Republican candidates for Township Council.
