FANWOOD, NJ -- While spring snows seem to now be over, eventually warm weather will take over on a permanent basis, and the Fanwood Grille (34 South Martine Ave., Fanwood) is ready for the change of seasons.
This week, the eatery reintroduced its yogurt parfaits with fresh berries that proved so popular last summer. However, a new twist for 2018 is the addition of homemade granola or, as Paul Watterson likes to call it, Grille-nola.
After experimenting with different combinations of ingredients, he believes he has found the perfect combo of oats, sunflower seeds, pecans, candied walnuts and Vermont maple syrup that the Fanwood Grille orders directly from the supplier.
"Processed granola often falls flat. Our Grille-nola is made fresh here on premises and is bursting with flavor," says Watterson, who wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to bake trays of the freshly-made treat.
"We will be make other menu additions to celebrate the return of warm weather... whenever that will be," joked Watterson, who was honored earlier this year by The Daily Meal for making the Best Soups in New Jersey.
