Registration Open for the Downtown Scotch Plains 5K Race-To-Summer


SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ --The First Annual “Downtown Scotch-Plains Race to Summer 5K, in memory of Patrick J. Allocca, is now a USA Track & Field (USATF) certified 5K course. 

Runners can register now before the price increases from $25 to $30 on June 6.  A portion of all proceeds will go to the revitalization of the Scotch Plains downtown, as well as Camp Clover, a Bereavement Day Camp for children in need in Warren, NJ.

This new event will snake through the local residential streets of Scotch Plains with the start and finish next to the Scotch Plains Municipal Building. Post-race BBQ and live entertainment will be provided by The Stage House Tavern and “The Neighbors.” Runners receive a Tech T-shirt, as well as one free beer at Darby Road to anyone over age 21.

Check in begins at 6:00 p.m. on June 23, with a Family Fun Run at 7:00 p.m. and the 5K start at 7:30 p.m. Awards for all age groups will take place at 8:30 p.m. next to the Municipal Building.
