FANWOOD, NJ -- Just in time for the Fourth of July, Fanwood will once again have its own ice cream parlor when Rocko's holds its grand opening on Friday, July 1, at 1:00 p.m. Mayor Colleen Mahr will cut the ribbon to formally welcome Rocko's Ice Cream to downtown Fanwood.
In celebration of its launch, Rocko's will offer specials and samples throughout the day. Flavors include traditional vanilla and chocolate, along with innovative flavors such as Birthday Cake Batter, Devil Dawg, Graham Cracker, and Death by Chocolate. Rocko's will sell ice cream cones, sundaes, shakes, coffee and desserts made by the popular Calandra's Bakery. The featured item on Friday will be the "Mahr-shmallow Sundae," named in honor of Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr.
The ice cream store formerly known as the Double Dipper has been closed since mid-May as it changed hands and is now owned by businessman Roger Bernier and operated by Brandon Watterson, who slides two doors down from Nick's Pizza.
"We've made some changes to make the store more fun and family friendly," said Watterson. "The amount of support from our customers at Nick's Pizza has been amazing. We are eager to deliver a great ice cream place the whole community can enjoy."
Rocko's summer hours will be 12:00 Noon to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week.
