RAHWAY, NJ -- Unemployment due to the coronavirus pandemic has upended many lives, forcing many to turn to food pantries for help. For many years, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway has been a regular contributor to Rahway Food For Friends Food Pantry, supplying the pantry and soup kitchen with healthy food and supplies.

But demand has been great, with the pantry and soup kitchen serving many more families.

Volunteer Coordinator Bridget Baldwin has organized a hospital-wide food drive to increase contributions. In the past two days alone, RWJUH Rahway has collected and delivered nearly a ton of healthy food to the pantry. Contributions include frozen turkey, pasta, peanut butter, rice, beans, and cereal.

The hospital will continue its efforts throughout the holiday season. To contribute to the food drive, call RWJUH Community Education at 732 499 6193.
