SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Several venues around Scotch Plains-Fanwood hosted MLK Day of Service projects, including the JCC, Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, Shady Rest Clubhouse, Fanwood Presbyterian Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, Temple Sholom, Scotch Plains Public Library.

Local businesses, including Be CraftfulNick's Pizza, and Mara's Cafe in Fanwood hosted contributed to the spirit of volunteerism of MLK Day on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.

"We will be delivering over 80 cards, four pieces of artwork, and inspirational messages and two banners to the Lederman's this week," said Amy Boroff, owner of Be Craftful. "For anyone interested in supporting this local family, please consider making a donation at a site set up to help with the medical expenses. Thank you to the organizers of today's events and of course, to all the volunteers. We are Lederman Strong."

ELIZABETH, NJ - The New Jersey Department of Health is continuing to investigate the cause of the passing of elementary school student Daniela Genaro after it was confirmed that the student had been diagnosed with influenza.
