SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Hundreds of participants turned out to literally kick-off the season at Patrick's Race to Summer in Scotch Plains on Wednesday, June 27. Rain did little to dampen the spirits of participants.

This year's race started and finished directly across from the Fire House on Senger Place. Following the race was a  a live band performance and BBQ from the Stage House Tavern on the grounds of the Scotch Plains Municipal building.

Trond Smedsrud, 36, of Westfield was the overall winner with a time of 16:34. G. Baker, 33, of Morris Plains, was the fastest female finisher with a time of 20:44. Ben Fleischer, 17, of Scotch Plains led runners ages 1-19 with a time of 17:30. Brooke Mesereau, 14, of Watchung was the top female runner age 1-19 with a time of 22:14.

  • Janna Chernetz, 42, female 40-49, at 21:28.
  • John Bretz, 51, male 50-59, at 20:36.
  • Kristen Wolansky, 51, female 50-59, at 23:24.
  • Bob Lacosta, 70, male 70+, at 40:00.
