SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Democratic Committee held a "Meet the Candidates" fundraiser on July 1st at Jerseyland Community Center, 783 Jerusalem Road, Scotch Plains.

The event assembled local Democratic elected officials, family, friends, and supporters. Deputy Mayor Josh Losardo, who is running for Mayor, and Council candidate Ellen Zimmerman were the guests of honor. Among the notable attendees were Councilman Roc White, Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler, local Democratic organization leaders John Del Sordi and Ray Szpond, Union County Sheriff Peter Corvelli, Freeholder Chris Hudak (Linden) and Freeholder candidate Lourdes Leon (Elizabeth).

"I am honored to be running for Scotch Plains Town Council alongside Deputy Mayor Josh Losardo who is running for Mayor," said Ellen Zimmerman, a first-time candidate for Council. "Josh has already proven his dedication to Scotch Plains as Deputy Mayor these past two years. It can only get better with him as Mayor."

Losardo and Zimmerman will face Republican candidates Mayor Al Smith and Ted Spera in November. 

"Josh and Ellen are two great candidates," a confident John Del Sordi, the local Democratic chair, said. "We are looking forward to taking both seats in November."
