SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Park Avenue in downtown Scotch Plains were invaded by dinosaurs, Ghostbusters, ghouls, and superheroes as the Township hosted its fourth annual "trunk or treat" event.

Community organizations and individuals volunteered to decorate their vehicles and offer candy to trick or treaters as part of the event. Trunk or Treat had a particularly poignant aspect this year following the recent death of Councilwoman Rose Checchio, who worked tirelessly to make the Halloween-themed event such a success.

Participants included Mayor Al Smith, Township Manager Al Mirabella, Deputy Manager Margaret Heisey, Scotch Plains Recreation Director DJ Salvante, and other elected officials. is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
