SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The 2017 Scotch Plains-Fanwood Memorial Weekend commemorations take place on Sunday, May 28, and Monday, May 29, respectively. The grand marshals will be Fanwood residents Edward Miller and Joseph Nagy, both WWII veterans. Alan Ebersole, who was to serve with them, passed away a few weeks ago, will also be recognized at the Memorial Day ceremonies.

Memorial Day Concert
at 6:30 p.m.

The sixth annual Memorial Day Concert will take place at the Alan Augustine Village Green on Park Avenue, adjacent to the Scotch Plains Municipal Building, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Full Count Big Band will play patriotic tunes and traditional marches in a concert . entitled A Tribute to Fallen Heroes. The program will include the reading of letters written by members of the U.S. military to their loved ones back home.   . 

Memorial Day Ceremonies (Monday, May 29)
9:00 a.m. Fanwood
10:00 a.m. Scotch Plains

There will be a memorial service and presentation of wreaths at the Fanwood Memorial Library (5 Forest Road) at 9:00 a.m.  A memorial tribute and laying of wreaths will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the gazebo on Park Avenue and Front Street in downtown Scotch Plains.

The 2017 Memorial Day Parade will proceed along Park Avenue to Martine Avenue into downtown Fanwood. The theme of this year's parade is They Gave Their Tomorrows...
